Former NFL running back Alex Collins, who played for the Seattle Seahawks and Baltimore Ravens, tragically passed away at the age of 28. Collins was involved in a fatal motorcycle crash in Lauderdale Lakes, Florida, on Sunday night. According to the Broward County Sheriff's Office, Collins was riding his Suzuki motorcycle when he collided with an SUV that was making a left turn. The impact caused Collins to go through the window of the SUV, and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The news of Collins' death stunned the NFL world, and both the Ravens and Seahawks released statements expressing their grief. The Ravens described Collins as a kind person who brought light and love wherever he went. The Seahawks said they were heartbroken by the news.

Collins had a successful career in the NFL, playing for both the Seahawks and Ravens. He was a standout running back at Arkansas before being selected by the Seahawks in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft. After one season with Seattle, Collins joined the Ravens and played two seasons in Baltimore before returning to the Seahawks. He last played in the NFL in 2021.

In addition to his NFL career, Collins also played for the Memphis Showboats in the USFL. USFL president of football operations Daryl Johnston expressed the league's sorrow over Collins' passing, calling him a great teammate and ambassador of the game. Collins ran for a total of 1,997 yards and scored 18 touchdowns in his 50 NFL games.

Collins' death has left a void in the football community, and many have expressed their condolences and shared memories of him. Collins' family released a statement through the Seahawks, describing him as a cherished family member and friend with a drive, determination, and larger-than-life personality. The Arkansas Razorbacks, Collins' alma mater, also expressed their sadness and remembered him as a legendary Razorback and a great person.

Collins' passion for football was evident throughout his career, and he even credited his success to his background in Irish dancing, which helped with his footwork on the field. The news of his passing has left many in shock and mourning the loss of a talented player and beloved individual.
