The manhunt for convicted killer Danelo Cavalcante, who escaped from a Pennsylvania prison, has entered its 11th day as police work around the clock to locate the fugitive. Police have revealed that Cavalcante may have altered his appearance, acquired a vehicle, and relocated to a new area. New images of Cavalcante, captured on a Ring camera in East Pikeland Township, show him sporting a clean-cut look, in contrast to the scruffy beard and mustache he had while behind bars. He is seen wearing a black baseball-style hat, a yellow or green hooded sweatshirt, green prison pants, and white shoes.
Authorities now believe that Cavalcante is in possession of a vehicle, although they are unsure of the make. In response to this new information, additional officers have been stationed near the last known sighting of Cavalcante in Upper Providence Township, which is approximately 30 miles north of Chester County Prison. Pennsylvania State Police are expected to provide an update on the manhunt during a press conference.
Despite the efforts of over 400 officers, including tactical teams, Cavalcante has managed to elude capture, even after being spotted twice on Friday. There have been nearly a dozen confirmed sightings of him since his escape on August 31. State police have emphasized that Cavalcante is extremely dangerous.
Cavalcante was serving a life sentence without parole for the fatal stabbing of his former girlfriend, Deborah Brandao, in the presence of her young children in 2021. He was awaiting transfer to a state facility when he escaped by scaling a wall, climbing over razor wire, and jumping from a roof into a less secure area. The tower guard responsible for monitoring Cavalcante's escape was fired on Thursday, and their identity has not been disclosed.
The manhunt for Cavalcante has intensified with additional manpower and resources dedicated to his capture. Despite the efforts of law enforcement, Cavalcante remains at large, posing a significant threat to public safety.
