Tory Lanez mugshot revealed -heads to state prison for Megan Thee Stallion shooting

Canadian rapper Tory Lanez, also known as Daystar Peterson, has been transferred to North Kern State Prison in Delano, California, where he will continue to serve his 10-year sentence for shooting hip-hop star Megan Thee Stallion. The 31-year-old Lanez was admitted to the state prison on Tuesday, as confirmed by prison records. Along with his transfer, a new mugshot of Lanez was taken, showing him with a blank expression.

Lanez's conviction stems from an incident in 2020 when he shot Megan Thee Stallion, whose real name is Megan Pete, in the foot after they left a party in Los Angeles. The shooting occurred after a gathering at Kylie Jenner's home on July 12, 2020. In August, Lanez was sentenced to 10 years in prison after being found guilty of assault with a semi-automatic firearm, carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and discharging a firearm with gross negligence.

Despite his conviction, Lanez had initially apologized for his actions and claimed full responsibility for the shooting. However, in a later Instagram post, he clarified that he was only taking responsibility for "verbal and intimate moments" he shared with the parties involved and refused to apologize for the charges he believed he was wrongfully convicted of. Lanez vowed to continue fighting until he comes out victorious.

The transfer to North Kern State Prison came shortly after Lanez's appeal for release on bail was denied. Lanez had requested bail to be with his son and wife while his legal team worked on his appeal. However, Judge David Herriford denied the motion, citing Lanez's violent felony conviction, history of violating court orders, and foreign citizenship as factors contributing to the decision.

Following Lanez's sentencing, Megan Thee Stallion faced criticism from Lanez's fanbase. However, during a performance at Outside Lands Festival in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park in August, she defiantly addressed her detractors, stating, "F - - k all my haters. None of the s - - t you was doing or saying broke me."

Megan has seemingly moved on with her life since the incident. She has been seen wearing a revealing catsuit during a night out and performed alongside Cardi B at the 2023 MTV VMAs, showcasing her resilience and determination.

While Lanez's transfer to a state prison marks a significant development in the case, his conviction and imprisonment serve as a reminder of the consequences of his actions. The rapper will now have to serve his sentence and await further legal proceedings in his ongoing appeal.
