14:56 01.04.2024

Former NFL cornerback Vontae Davis has been found dead in his South Florida home, police in Davie, a Fort Lauderdale suburb, confirmed on Monday. The 35-year-old former Miami Dolphins and Indianapolis Colts player was discovered by a house assistant at a mansion on SW 178th Avenue. Davis, who played in the NFL for 10 seasons after being drafted by the Dolphins in 2009, was known for his talent on the field, intercepting 22 passes and being selected for the Pro Bowl in 2014 and 2015.

Despite his success in the league, Davis faced struggles with injuries and surgeries, which led him to abruptly retire in the middle of a game while playing for the Buffalo Bills in 2018. His former coach, Chester Frazier, expressed his condolences on social media, remembering Davis as a great player and person. The investigation into Davis' death is ongoing, with no cause of death released pending autopsy results.

Friends and colleagues, including long-time friend Vladimir Moise, have mourned the loss of Davis, remembering him for his contributions to the sport and the impact he had on those around him. The football community is in shock over the sudden passing of a player who left a lasting legacy in the NFL.
